Noema restaurant is opening at Birger Jarlsgatan 64
Published 11/23/2023A new meeting place is now opening on the ground floor of Wallenstam's Stockholm office. The restaurateur Acki Kokotos is opening Noema restaurant at Birger Jarlsgatan 64. The restaurant will entice guests with new culinary experiences, which will draw inspiration from all over the world.
"This feels so wonderful, the premises are really great and it will be fantastic to offer nice outdoor seating in the summer. I live nearby and many times I have thought that it would be amazing to be able to open a restaurant right here," says Acki Kokotos.
Birger Jarlsgatan 64 is an address with a long history. The building in which Noema is now being established was completed in 1927 and at that time was built for Svenska Engelska Mineralolje AB, which later became Shell. Wallenstam acquired the property in 2007 and has had its Stockholm office here since then.
"The place in front of our office is popular and has a lovely sunny location. We wanted to help create a new meeting place and the idea of a restaurant was born. We are very happy to welcome Noema and hope that many Stockholmers will now gather here to eat good food and to socialize in the summer in a restaurant offering outdoor seating right in the center of Stockholm," says Mathias Aronsson, Vice CEO of Wallenstam
The name "Noema" embodies a sense of deep thinking and meaning, and this is what we aim to offer in both our cuisine and atmosphere. We want every meal here to be a memorable experience for our guests and we will have room for around 180 guests indoors and almost 100 outdoor seats in the summer," says Joakim Erlandsson, co-owner and restaurant manager.
Birger Jarlsgatan 64 is perhaps most famous because of a tenant that was never located in the building, Öhman's department store, from the popular drama series Varuhuset, which was screened on Swedish Television (SVT) in the 1980s.
Noema restaurant will open on November 23.
