Wallenstam sells three wind farms to Jämtkraft

Published 6/7/2022

With the aim of restructuring its wind power portfolio, Wallenstam is selling three wind farms located in electricity price zone 2. The three wind farms comprise a total of 13 wind turbines with a total installed output of 30.5 MW. The buyer is the energy company Jämtkraft AB.

"We are carrying out a restructuring in order to concentrate our wind power on the area where our properties are located, which is in electricity price zone 3. Therefore, we are selling three of the wind farms in electricity price zone 2. It feels nice to be able to sell to Jämtkraft in particular, with which we have carried out transactions in the past. We also collaborate with them on trading of the electricity that we produce and consume," says Hans Wallenstam, CEO Wallenstam AB.

"Jämtkraft works on managing and developing renewable energy. The acquisition is completely aligned with the company's strategy of developing wind power in the region. We are looking forward to adding this production to our renewable electricity portfolio and in the longer term to also be able to upgrade the wind turbines with modern technology. This is a sensible and long-term use of existing wind farms. We are very pleased to carry out another transaction with Wallenstam. A high level of trust already exists between our companies," says Kerstin Arnemo, Chairman of the Board Jämtkraft.

The sale comprises the following wind farms:

  • Stentjärnåsen, 5 turbines, 10 MW, Härjedalen Municipality
  • Rätans-Digerberget, 5 turbines, 11.5 MW, Berg Municipality
  • Middagsberget, 3 turbines, 9 MW, Berg Municipality

Jämtkraft took possession of the wind farms on June 1, 2022. After the sale, Wallenstam owns 53 wind turbines with a total installed output of 112 MW, distributed among 17 wind farms. Even after the transaction, Wallenstam is self-sufficient in renewable electrical energy, which the company has been since 2013.
