Wallenstam presents 400[th] anniversary gift to GothenburgPublished 4/20/2021
Hans Wallenstam has today presented the Heden Live proposal to Hampus Magnusson, responsible for urban development matters in Gothenburg, in connection with the meeting of the building committee. The proposal, which was drawn up together with Wingårdhs, is a 400th anniversary gift to the city and future Gothenburgers in order to mark the city’s anniversary year. The idea involves new housing to develop Heden into a safe and inspiring meeting place with sports as a unifying force. With harmonious architecture and exciting content, city life will be strengthened throughout the year and around the clock.
During the 300th anniversary celebrations, Götaplatsen square was inaugurated and now in connection with the 400th anniversary, Wallenstam wants to mark this with a gift to the city, Gothenburgers and future generations.
“We want to participate in marking Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary in 2021. Our hope is that by presenting our proposal during the anniversary year in 2021, that the urban development project Heden Live will start. Through this proposal, we want to contribute to developing Heden as a locality with associated buildings. We have utilized and strengthened all that is good today and have provided added value, which will create fantastic development potential for all of us Gothenburgers,” says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.
“The smart design makes it possible to fill Heden with even more features. A playful park changes into a green, undulating area that you can walk and sit on. The residential buildings will enclose and mark out Heden as one of the city’s most important meeting places. All buildings will feature a wooden look, which sends a clear signal about the city’s sustainability ambitions,” says Gert Wingårdh, architect at Wingårdhs.
Heden Live shall be an equal and green place in the city, which is open to all, a natural place for children with space for both organized and spontaneous activities. Four 11-a-side pitches, a multi-sports arena, more housing and spaces for events, will create the basis for a sense of community and joy of movement. A vision which has its starting point in previous dialogues, the city’s strategies and analyses of and around Heden.
“The area’s strong profile as a regional location for sports and events can and should be developed. Heden shall not be built up but “marked” with four residential towers that will serve as push pins, clarifying and developing this popular location for sports and cultural activities in Gothenburg,” says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.
The position of the residential towers will create space for city life and greenery. Apartments where different generations, students, the elderly and families with children can meet from the roof terrace to the ground floor.
