Wallenstam obtains new land allocation in Barkarbystaden
Published 2/2/2021The Municipal Executive Board in Järfälla has decided to award Wallenstam a land allocation for a block with a gross floor area of 22,500 sq m directly adjacent to the future metro station square in Barkarbystaden. Construction start is expected to occur during 2022.
Wallenstam is planning about 270 apartments in the upcoming block, which will also contain commercial space facing the planned square and metro entrance.
"It feels really great that we have again been entrusted with the task of contributing to Barkarbystaden's development. Our ambition for the block is to help bring life to the squares and thoroughfares in the new phase, where this block will constitute an important hub. We have already constructed two blocks in Barkarbystaden and will bring this good experience with us for this upcoming investment," says Mathias Aronsson, Regional Director Stockholm and Uppsala and Vice CEO of Wallenstam.
Since 2017, Wallenstam has been one of the Municipality's selected anchor developers for Barkarbystaden IV, which has involved close cooperation with the Municipality regarding the zoning plan work for Barkarbystaden's phase IV. The zoning plan gained legal force during 2019.
"Wallenstam has previously developed two blocks with a large commercial content in Barkarbystaden. I think it is very positive that they are once again choosing to invest in and develop Barkarbystaden," says Emma Feldman (Moderate Party), Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board in Järfälla.
Barkarbystaden's total development consists of 14,000 new apartments until 2032 as part of the extension of the metro to the area. Apart from housing, there are also plans for office space, schools, nursery schools, retail space and public services.
