Wallenstam is building 161 new apartments in Rosendal, Uppsala

Published 12/6/2019

Today, Wallenstam symbolically started the construction of 161 new rental apartments in Rosendal, Uppsala. Together with Erik Pelling, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board in Uppsala, CEO Hans Wallenstam today put the spade in the ground in order to start the construction. The project, which is named Flanören is being built in one of Rosendal's most central locations next to Torgny Segerstedts allé, close to the future Rosendals Torg.

"We look forward to continue contributing to more new homes in Uppsala and today we have about 550 completed apartments here as well as ongoing projects and a local office where we can meet our tenants. Flanören is our third new production project in Rosendal, an attractive area offering a wonderful mix of housing, retail, services and proximity to park and nature areas," says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.

Wallenstam's 161 new rental apartments will be spread among three buildings of six, eight and ten floors, where the two higher buildings will be linked in the ground floor. The façades will have an urban character with recurring details in a range of materials including plaster, tile, stone and painted metal. A relaxing, green environment is being created in the courtyard for socializing with neighbours and friends.

"Rosendal is a unique city district featuring mixed-use development and various forms of tenure. This means that the starting shot has been fired for the third phase and Wallenstam's apartments will make an important contribution to the area," says Erik Pelling (Social Democrat), Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board in Uppsala.

Wallenstam has been active in Uppsala since 2014 and entered into collaboration with Uppsala Housing Agency in 2016, which will act as an agent for allocating half of the newly constructed apartments. The other half will be allocated through Wallenstam's own housing queue.

Rosendalsfältet has historically been a military training area and a golf course, but today the area is a growing and popular district in Uppsala. Apart from building new housing in Rosendal, Wallenstam has also contributed new homes in Gränby and Östra Sala backe in Uppsala.
