Wallenstam in letter of intent with Mölndal for apartment construction

Published 3/30/2017

The Municipal Executive Board in Mölndal has made a decision regarding a land allocation for about 230 permanent apartments in central Mölndal as well as planning permission and a land allocation for about 90 modular apartments for new arrivals and students.

“Mölndal is a very attractive municipality and there is a great need for housing. Through new construction, we want to and can help solve the housing situation in both the short- and long-term and make an active contribution to urban development,” says Thomas Dahl, Vice CEO of Wallenstam.

The land allocation in central Mölndal is situated in Åby. Of the 230 apartments that will form part of the land allocation in central Mölndal, 80 will be rental apartments and the rest will be cooperative apartments.

The property for the modular apartments is located in the Södra Porten district, east of the E20 motorway and the letter of intent includes the land allocation and temporary planning permission for ten years. Mölndal Municipality will rent 60 apartments as a temporary housing solution for new arrivals. The remaining 30 apartments will be rented out on the regular housing market by Wallenstam.

“We have a very good dialogue with Mölndal Municipality and look forward to being able to start construction as soon as possible in order to meet the need for new apartments here,” says Thomas Dahl.
